On December 21, Xiaomi’s sub-brand that is specialized in making Smart Home line products and not only announced a new smart product. The Mijia induction cooker has been designed for all those who want to cook like professionals without passing chef courses. This cooker comes with a number of ‘intelligent’ features, but it costs only 299 yuan ($46).
Xiaomi has invested too much in Mijia, and it gives results. In November, at its first MIDC IoT Developer Conference in Beijing announced the strategic cooperation with Baidu. They will build IoT + AI (Artificial Intelligence) ecosystem jointly. Moreover, the company also revealed the Xiaomi Mijia IoT platform has more than 85 million connected devices and over 10 million daily active devices, making it the world’s largest IoT platform for smart hardware. At the same time, Xiaomi IoT platform has more than 800 kinds of access devices and more than 400 partners.
Although there are too many smart products from various niches, the company hasn’t launched any new product for the kitchen after the Xiaomi IH 4L Smart Electric Rice Cooker. We understand the air purifiers, robot vacuum cleaners, and other products from this category sell well and get an out of stock status quickly. But there is still a high demand for kitchen products as well.
As for now, the Mijia induction cooker is going to win customers’ hearts easily due to myriads of useful features that showcase how a smart cooker should look and act. Let’s explore all those features and learn the using specifications of this cooker.
Mijia Induction Cooker Appearance
Like many other Smart Home line products, the Mijia Induction Cooker comes in an eco-packaging.
The cooker itself has dimensions of 280 x 265 x 70mm.
But like all other Mijia products, this cooker comes with a minimalistic design using only black and white colors. Actually, this gives a very scientific and technological sense to the cooker. It also comes with a round design, unlike many other products in the market that use square-shaped design.
All operations can be implemented via a single knob on the front. A long press will switch the cooker on. By rotating you can adjust the amount of heat. The total power of 2100W is divided into 99 gears to help users accurately control the firepower. There are LED lights above the knob used to display the current heat status. A LED screen is placed on the front of the knob. It displays the amount of heat, cooking mode, time and other information.
Once you turn on the cooker, press the function key next to the knob to select one of five modes including a hotpot, cooking, soup porridge, and frying. You can also tap the timer button and set a cooking time of maximum 4 hours.
The cooker is designed to help prevent slippery pot effect. A silicone ring is mounted on the edge of the surface to create friction and help the pan to be better fixed.
The top of the heating part comes with dotted circles to showcase the heating area.
There is a probe located in the middle of the surface. It is in a direct contact with the bottom of the pot for the most accurate measurement of heat. It has a few functions. It can detect whether the battery is discharged, whether there is a pressure, etc. If the aforementioned dangers occur, it will pause the work. At last, this intelligent technology controls the amount of heat that automatically adjusts the appropriate heat output.
On the bottom of the stove is a gas-cooled air duct, along with 35 adjustable mini fan blades to exchange air with the outside, and keep the stove from overheating, helping to maintain the product’s lifespan. The four rubber feet of the Mijia Induction Cooker are sturdy. They support standing on many different planes.
Moreover, the cooker uses a microcrystalline water separator technology, which prevents water from penetrating inside the coil to avoid electric leakage, ensuring absolute safety. Xiaomi has filed for a patent for this design. But you should also know this part is not waterproof. So can’t wash it out.
The power cord supports a two-way plug.
Mijia Induction Cooker Performance
There are by default five cooking modes. But you can connect to the phone and use the cooker more easily. With the APP, you can not only switch between cooking modes freely but also customize and install unlimited functions. This may be not that useful for experienced cookers. But those who just begin cooking will face some problems when selecting the right amount of heat and cooking time. Moreover, the APP provides recipes as well as heat adjustment and time recommendations.
When clicking on a certain meat, the APP will provide not only the recipe but also the materials used in it and graphic instructions for each step. As for the Mijia Induction Cooker, it will ‘understand’ what you are going to cook and adjust custom settings.
Thus we can state, there are two methods to regulate the amount of heat when cooking. First, you can use the temperature control knob close to the traditional gas stove. Second, you can also directly select the temperature level available for certain dishes when connected via the APP.
We decided to learn how long it takes to boil the water. As there is no certain mode for this, we set the heat at maximum. 1 liter of cold water was boiled in 5 minutes and 23 seconds only. Moreover, the measured output was 1800W.
Obviously, the Mijia Induction Cooker has been designed for two kinds of people. On the one hand, it can be very useful for those who don’t know much about cooking and need help when selecting the right amount of heat and setting the right cooking time. Plus, there is an APP control allowing customers to do everything remotely. On the other hand, the Mijia Induction Cooker uses a minimalistic design and provides myriads of innovations simultaneously. Like other Mijia products, it’s a great product for those who like ‘smart technologies’ in every kind of device. The smart technologies are already in every aspect of our lives. We can’t deny this. And the Mijia Induction Cooker is the brightest example of this statement.
