VIVO has made a ‘little’ change on its current flagship and came in with the most innovative smartphone. Actually, the manufacturer has announced it will be launching the world’s first under-display fingerprint smartphone on January 24. Today, everything went as scheduled and the company uncovered the VIVO X20 Plus UD.
A couple of years back the Xiaomi Mi 5S was rumored to come in with this technology. Everyone was believing XIAOMI will be the first to come in with such an innovation because it always comes with ‘smart’ and ‘intelligent’ technologies. However, it didn’t happen. And many users have been thinking if Xiaomi couldn’t do that, no one will be able to do. But the competition between Chinese smartphone makers is too high. VIVO that is on the leading positions in the Chinese smartphones market and in the world was the first to announce under-display technology on a real smartphone.
As for the technology itself, the under-display fingerprint identification works in the following way. The principle is the use of photoelectric reflection technology. A specifically adapted to the RGB Pixel OLED screen emits light through the 0.68mm thickness of the glass cover to reach the fingers. As they have different lines, there will be different reflected lights. Therefore, the reflected light will form different ‘pictures’. This program has been developed by Synaptic.
However, the rest of features are identical to the regular model. Thus the VIVO X20 Plus UD comes with a 6.43-inch full-screen with a resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 2 × 12MP dual-camera on the back and front supporting OIS, and 3905mAh capacity battery.
The VIVO X20 Plus UD is priced at 3598 yuan ($564) and it will go on sale on February 1.
