At the end of MWC 2018, VIVO showed off a new concept phone named the VIVO APEX. It grabbed visitors’ attention immediately. The reason why it happened is obvious. This is the world’s first true full-screen phone. Unfortunately, it will go into production only in the middle of 2018. Anyway, our friends at Mydrivers have taken their hands on this amazing device and took a dozen of photos showing the key features of the APEX.
Actually, the VIVO APEX is a high-end phone if looking at its hardware. The latter includes a Snapdragon 845 chip, 6GB of RAM, and a number of other attractive features. But we are more interested in the innovations it comes with. There are some cutting-edge technologies used in this handset such as n under-display fingerprint scanner using the half screen, the lifting front camera, hidden sensors, and so on.
The first thing we should pay attention is not the full-screen occupying the whole front panel (91%). It’s more amazing to see a quite new technology. The world’s first under-display fingerprint scanner phone was the VIVO X20 Plus UD. But the company has gone further and come in with another technology – now the bottom half of the screen can be used for fingerprint identification. Thus there is no special place you should place your finger on. The recognition accuracy and speed are quite good. Plus, the VIVO APEX also supports two fingerprints (simultaneously) input verification function.
The second innovative technology used in the VIVO APEX refers to the sounding. As the ‘speaker’ is hidden under the display, there is no special area you should bring your ear closer to listen to caller’s voice.
VIVO was able to hide everything under the display but the front camera. So it decided to use another approach – the camera pops up from the body when you need it and gets back when not used. The working speed is acceptable.
