Recently, a new full-screen phone has been introduced to large masses. It is the second-gen Smartisan Nuts Pro 2, which comes with a number of improvements concerning the appearance as well as the hardware. So if the first model came with a trendy feature such as the dual-camera, the second model sports the latest trend in the smartphone market, the full-screen. But it would be naïve to say this is a cheap full-screen smartphone with a raff hardware. Vice versa, the Nuts Pro 2 has become more powerful due to the newer chip. And it can be called one of the best super mid-range smartphones.
The first selling point of the Nuts Pro 2 should be considered the appearance. Like its predecessor, this one comes with a minimalistic design looking like a plate. Currently, almost all Chinese manufacturers try to round the corners and edges of their flagships for better ergonomics. This manufacturer tries to differ from its rivals by offering another design. The frame is now more rounded and it uses a 2.5D arc glass on front and rear.
The phone is equipped with a 5.99-inch 18:9 InCell full-screen providing 2160×1080 pixels resolution and 403ppi pixel density. The rest of the display features include a contrast ratio of 1500: 1, NTSC color gamut coverage of 80%, 500nit brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Smartisan Nuts Pro 2 comes with a metal body using an aluminum alloy. Its surface has passed through the metal blasting process, while CNC crafting is used for both edges. But the company has used this process to make a groove in the middle of the frame. Thanks to it the device looks thinner than it is.
As the Nuts Pro 2 comes with a full-screen, there is no place on the chin for the home button. Therefore, the fingerprint scanner can’t be located there. The company has had two version – either it should place it on the side like the Vernee Mars Pro or it should mount it on the back. Smartisan chooses the second variant but it hides the fingerprint sensor under the company’s logo. This scanner can be used for fingerprint payments. But something tells me you won’t use it. The Smartisan Nuts Pro 2 incorporates facial face recognition that uses the Face++ algorithm. The latter provides an ideal speed when using the facial recognition feature
This is one of those few phones that come with the Snapdragon 660 chip. Thus the Smartisan Nuts Pro 2 joins the group of the Oppo R11/R11s, Xiaomi Mi Note 3, and Vivo X20. This is the most powerful 6-series SoC of Qualcomm. So playing heavy games is not a problem anymore. Say, it supports King of Glory at the highest frame rate. Moreover, it will be a pleasure on a full-screen.
When it comes to the connectivity and battery everything looks more attractive. The phone sports a 3500mAh battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0 at 18W. Plus, there is a USB Type-C, which is a faster port for data transfer and charging. Other connectivity options include a Bluetooth 5.0, NFC (not all versions), a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, GPS / GLONASS, card reader, write cards, card simulations, P2P mode, and dual-card dual-standby supporting 4G.
The Nuts Pro 2 features a black/white dual-camera program that uses a Sony IMX386 sensor with a single pixel size of 1.25 microns, 6P lens, and an aperture of f/1.8. It is paired with a Samsung S5K4E8 sensor of 5MP with a pixel size of 1.4 microns. As for the front shooter, the 16MP camera comes with an aperture of f/2.2 and supports beautifying feature. The Nuts Pro 2 uses a beautify algorithm by Momo, claiming it learns from the millions of beautiful anchors
