Yesterday, Xiaomi announced a new and very interesting product under its crowdfunding platform. It was named the MADV Mini Panoramic camera, which belongs to the category of plug and play cameras. This panoramic camera comes with a USB Type-C interface and it can be directly plugged into a smartphone. Though the MADV Mini Panoramic camera is made by Beijing Crazy King Technology Co. Ltd, it carries the Xiaomi brand. This product is priced at 399 yuan ($61).
As for the specs, the MADV Mini Panoramic camera sports two 13MP cameras on two sides. They come with a dual 210 ° wide-angle fisheye lens and each lens has an F1.8 large aperture, greatly reducing the dead zone at both ends. Thanks to them you can take 5K resolution (5276 x 2688p) JPEG high-definition panoramic photos and 1920 x 960p resolution high-definition videos @ 30fps. Moreover, the MADV Mini Panoramic camera supports panoramic EIS (electronic image stabilization), shooting asteroids, crystal ball, fisheye and other panoramic shooting modes.
The MADV Mini Panoramic camera comes in a compact size and weighs only 23.5 grams.
There is a special app allowing users to view and edit the panoramic photos and videos. But if you have managed to get a great shot and no need to edit it, you can share it via a single click.
By the way, an identical panoramic camera has been launched by Andy Rubin’s Essential startup earlier this year. But it relied on the pogo pins present on the back of the Essential Phone for the connectivity purpose. Thus it was designed only for the Essential Phone. In this sense, the MADV Mini Panoramic camera can be used in all smartphones supporting the USB C port connectivity.
